This dive site, known as Terumbu Dua or T2, is an easier boulder dive site situated approximately 200m towards the shore from the more renowned Terumbu Tiga. Its shallower depth and generally calmer conditions make it an accessible and enjoyable dive for a wide range of divers, particularly beginners. Divers navigate around impressive boulder formations, exploring the vibrant reef life that thrives within this underwater landscape.
The marine environment at T2 is rich and diverse. Key attractions include colorful sea fans, elegant sea whips, and large barrel sponges that adorn the boulder structures. While larger pelagics are not common, divers occasionally encounter the majestic bumphead parrotfish. For those with an eye for detail, the site offers excellent macro photography opportunities, with numerous sightings of fascinating nudibranchs and various sea slugs.
The best time to visit Terumbu Dua, consistent with much of Malaysia's East Coast, is during the dry season, typically from March to October, when the seas are calm, and visibility is at its peak. Its shallow and tranquil nature makes it ideal for a relaxed scuba dive or an introductory experience. Freedivers will also find the site highly appealing due to its manageable depth profile and abundant marine biodiversity close to the surface.
