This dive site, known as White House / Mermaid Statue and the House Reef, is directly accessible from the White House Scuba Diving Lodge in Moalboal, Philippines. It features an impressive underwater landscape characterized by a steep wall drop that begins just 30 meters from the shore, descending significantly deeper. The site is navigable by following the reef edge and wall, offering distinct sections for different experiences, with a focus on depths up to 22 meters.
The House Reef boasts a rich and colorful underwater habitat, teeming with vibrant corals, expansive sea fans, and various sponges. It is home to diverse marine life, notably including sea turtles, which are a highlight for many divers. The reef ecosystem supports a multitude of fish species and invertebrates, making it an excellent spot for both wide-angle and macro photography opportunities.
This site is ideal for visiting year-round due to the stable tropical conditions of the Philippines, though the dry season (typically November to May) often provides the best weather. Its suitability for all skill levels makes it perfect for both beginners exploring the shallow reef and more experienced divers wishing to explore the wall. Freedivers will also find the wall structure and accessible depths appealing for breath-hold diving practice.
