About this dive site

This dive site, known as Surprise Valley, offers a gentle drift experience along a light slope, allowing divers to relax and enjoy the serene underwater landscape. It features sandy flats interspersed with vibrant coral blocks and boasts one of the healthiest seagrass meadows in the central Visayas, providing beautiful wide-angle photographic opportunities. The gentle current naturally guides divers to the north, making navigation effortless.

The diverse marine life found here includes fascinating macro subjects such as shrimps, the elusive Lembeh seadragon, ghostpipefish, and frogfishes. Larger inhabitants include Banded sea kraits and turtles. The ultimate surprise can be the sudden encounter with a whale shark, which occasionally swims in the shallower parts of the site.

While specific best times to visit are not detailed, the Philippines generally offers good diving conditions year-round. Divers should embrace the mild current for a relaxing drift, keeping a keen eye on the healthy seagrass and coral blocks for macro critters, and always be prepared for the rare but thrilling possibility of a whale shark encounter. Due to its accessible depths and rich marine life, it is highly suitable for both snorkeling and freediving.
