This dive site, Nattey Thila, is located 25 minutes south of Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi. Situated in a channel, it is characterized by its unique reef structure, particularly the overhangs on the southern part of the thila. These overhangs are a highlight, brimming with vibrant soft corals, and the site is known for its susceptibility to strong currents, which often bring abundant marine life. Navigation typically involves drifting along the thila, paying close attention to the southern overhangs and the schooling fish found on all sides.
Marine life at Nattey Thila is exceptional for those seeking larger pelagic encounters. Shark lovers are well-catered for, with frequent sightings of various shark species. The site is also home to large schools of tuna and big eye jackfish, which can be seen circling the thila, alongside general schooling fish that populate the reef from all directions. The soft corals within the overhangs provide a stunning display of color and biodiversity.
Nattey Thila is best visited by divers prepared for stronger currents; Nitrox is recommended to maximize bottom time given the site's allure, especially for pelagic encounters. It offers excellent opportunities for wide-angle photography with its large fish and extensive coral formations. Freedivers will also find the site appealing due to its rich marine life and manageable maximum depth.
