This dive site is home to THE CORALARIUM by Jason Decaires Taylor, a truly unique and 100% sustainable art installation completed in 2018. The installation serves as an artificial reef, thoughtfully designed to provide additional shelter for marine life. Under the guidance of Resident Marine Biologist Samuel Dixon, extensive coral restoration projects have been undertaken over the years, transforming this site into a vibrant and abundant reef thriving in depths ranging from 2 to 6 meters.
The Coralarium boasts a rich diversity of marine animals and corals. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter a myriad of fish species that have found a new home here. Notable residents include rare juvenile sweetlips, various snappers, delicate pipefishes, and even a tiny frogfish, all contributing to the site's thriving ecosystem.
While the Maldives is generally excellent for diving year-round, the Coralarium is particularly special due to its shallow depth, making it perfectly suited for beginners, snorkelers, and freedivers. It offers a unique opportunity to witness the synergy of art and marine conservation, providing a tranquil and rich underwater experience for all visitors.
