This dive site, known as Sunabe Water Treatment Plants, is situated on the Miyagi Coast of Chatan Town, Okinawa Prefecture. Its unique feature is an underwater device at a depth of approximately 13 meters, resembling a UFO, which exhales and inhales seawater. When the water purification plant is active, this device releases warm water, creating a slightly warmer micro-environment around the site, which can be an interesting navigational landmark.
The diverse marine life found here includes nudibranchs, clown fish, dorado, various butterflyfish, sparrowhawks, and mantis fish. The site is particularly renowned for its excellent macro opportunities, making it a favorite among underwater photographers seeking small and intricate creatures.
From November to March, the water temperature drops below 24 degrees Celsius, enhancing its popularity as a macro diving destination. Both boat and shore diving are available, offering flexibility for divers. Its shallow depths make it well-suited for both scuba divers and freedivers looking to explore its unique features and abundant small marine life.
