About this dive site

This dive site, Bull Run, is a renowned former liveaboard shark feeding location in the Bahamas. It features high-profile, large scattered coral heads rising from white sand and algae beds, creating an intricate underwater landscape. Divers can explore various coral formations, including caverns and maze-like pathways, offering unique swim-through opportunities. While no longer actively fed, 3-8 female Caribbean Reef sharks still habitually frequent the area, providing regular close encounters.

The vibrant ecosystem at Bull Run supports a diverse range of marine life. Apart from the resident Caribbean Reef sharks, divers may spot impressive goliath groupers, colorful angelfish, grunts, and snappers. The sandy and algal areas are home to fascinating macro life such as nudibranchs and head shield slugs. Unfortunately, the site also hosts many lionfish, as spearing is prohibited to protect the sharks.

The site is excellent for wide-angle photography due to the sharks and coral landscapes, and macro enthusiasts will find subjects among the sand and algae. Given its shallow average depth of 8 meters, it's suitable for extended bottom times. Freedivers and snorkelers can also enjoy the abundant marine life, particularly the coral formations and sharks at shallower depths, though vigilance for sharks is advised. The Bahamas generally offers excellent diving conditions year-round, with warmer waters in summer and clearer visibility in winter.
