This dive site is an artificial reef created with 32 sunken vessels, ranging from Car Ferries and Tugboats to Whale Chasers and even a Brisbane Tram – these wrecks date back from 1968 to 1998. Due to sand accumulation in the lower areas of the wrecks, penetration is limited. The site experiences extremely tidal conditions with strong currents between high and low tides; optimal diving occurs within 30 minutes before or after high tide, avoiding recent rainfall which can introduce sediment into the bay. It's a popular area for fishermen, so vigilance regarding moving vessels, use of dive flags, and adherence to safety procedures are essential. A Dive Knife is highly recommended as discarded fishing tackle may be present. Launching your SMB on your safety stop is advised. Consider wearing gloves. Because of the strong currents and limited penetration options, this site is best suited for experienced divers.
