This dive site is situated directly below the Falls in Idaho Falls, within the Snake River. Divers will encounter impressive large grinders carved into the bedrock as dominant features downstream. This site is uniquely an altitude dive, located at 5000 feet elevation, making a working knowledge of altitude diving or an Altitude Certification a mandatory prerequisite for safe diving.
The freshwater ecosystem here is rich with marine life, including schools of Salmon and trout. The river is also home to magnificent sturgeon, with reports of specimens reaching up to 13.5 feet in length, providing exciting encounters with large animals.
While specific best times to visit are not detailed, it is crucial for all divers to be adequately prepared for altitude diving considerations. With an average depth of 3 meters and a maximum depth of 6 meters, the site is suitable for snorkeling and freediving, provided participants are aware of the strong currents and altitude effects.
