This dive site, Brandy Branch Reservoir Boat Launch, is located in Texas, United States, approximately 4.1 miles south of I-20 on FM 3251. Divers can easily access the water directly from the public boat launch. To navigate the site, divers should head approximately 200 yards (or 330° / NNW) from the boat ramp to move beyond the initially thick summer vegetation. The dive starts shallow at about 9 feet, reaching its maximum depth further out. The site is characterized by numerous submerged stumps and trees, and a distinctive 'wall of grass' can serve as a helpful navigation marker.
The freshwater environment of Brandy Branch Reservoir supports a variety of aquatic life. Divers can expect to encounter common freshwater fish species such as large mouth bass, perch, common bream, and catfish within the depths of the reservoir. The site is also notable for its extensive submerged vegetation, including grass and moss, which provides habitat and cover for these fish.
Given the shallow depths (maximum 7 meters, average 3 meters), this site is particularly well-suited for beginner divers, open water training, and those looking for a relaxed freshwater diving experience. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the shallow, calm conditions accommodating for exploring the submerged trees and observing freshwater fish. Visiting outside of peak summer months might offer slightly less dense vegetation near the entry point.
