About this dive site

This dive site, Snapper Alley, located southeast of Koh Bangu (Similan Island 9) in Thailand, is celebrated as an easy reef dive suitable for all experience levels. With depths reaching 20 meters and mild currents, it offers a relaxing and accessible underwater exploration, navigating through a vibrant reef system adorned with numerous swim-throughs.

As its name suggests, Snapper Alley is famous for its immense schools of snapper that congregate here, creating a spectacular display. The site is also home to extensive, vibrant hard corals, forming intricate habitats. Divers can often spot blue-spotted stingrays and garden eels dwelling in the sandy areas, while the more fortunate might encounter the graceful presence of occasional leopard sharks.

This site is a prime example of the rich biodiversity found within the Similan Islands. It is particularly well-suited for underwater photography, especially wide-angle shots capturing the large fish schools and healthy coral formations. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the site highly rewarding due to its shallow average depth, mild currents, and abundant marine life easily visible from the surface or with breath-hold dives. The prime diving season in the Similan Islands, generally from November to May, offers the best conditions for visiting Snapper Alley.
