This dive site, Koh Sak, is located approximately 700 meters from Koh Larn, making it easily accessible by boat from the Pattaya region of Thailand. It serves as an excellent site for both novice Open Water divers and more experienced fun divers. Underwater, the site begins with vibrant hard corals in the shallower areas, gradually transitioning to sandy bottoms as the depth increases. There is no specific history or complex navigation mentioned, suggesting a straightforward dive.
Divers can expect to encounter a variety of marine life at Koh Sak. Beginners will be thrilled by the numerous reef fishes inhabiting the coral gardens. For those with a keen eye and an interest in macro life, the sandy areas and coral patches offer a challenge to spot interesting crustaceans, colorful nudibranchs, and the elusive pipefish, which are known to reside in the deeper sections.
The dive site is suitable year-round, though the best conditions in Thailand, offering better visibility and calmer seas, are typically from November to April. Its shallow average depth of 5 meters, with a maximum of 11 meters, makes it ideal for extended bottom times. Freedivers will find the clear, shallow coral areas perfect for breath-hold diving practice and observing shallow reef life, while scuba divers can enjoy leisurely dives focusing on macro photography and beginner skill development.
