This dive site, located off the northern tip of Koh Phi Phi Don, encompasses Bamboo Island (Ko Mai Phai). Unlike other Phi Phi islands, it features a flat jungle-covered landscape surrounded by white sand. Underwater, expect sandy bottoms interspersed with coral patches, offering easy navigation suitable for leisurely exploration.
Despite some reef damage, the site teems with bustling sea life, most notably the vibrant ocellaris clownfish nestled among anemones. Divers can also encounter various small reef fish, crustaceans, and a variety of hard and soft corals forming the existing reef structure.
The best time to visit Bamboo Island for diving and snorkeling is during the dry season, from November to April, when visibility is optimal and seas are calm. Its shallow nature makes it perfect for beginner divers, snorkeling, and freediving practice, offering a relaxed experience.
