This dive site, known locally as "Sziget" or "Čierna Voda", is located in the Galanta district of Slovakia, specifically between the villages of Veľké Úľany - Nové Osady and Čierna Voda. It is a part of the pleasant AQUAREA sports and relaxation area, situated near a former dredging site. As a freshwater lake dive, navigation typically involves exploring the bottom topography of the dredging site, which may include gradual slopes and varied substrates, offering an interesting if not dramatic underwater environment.
Divers will be pleasantly surprised by the abundance of shy freshwater fish species, including carp, pike, roach, perch, catfish, pikeperch, and eels. A unique draw of this site is the presence of freshwater jellyfish, adding a distinct macro element to the diving experience.
Given its freshwater nature and moderate depth, Cierna Voda is suitable for diving throughout the warmer months, offering comfortable conditions to observe its aquatic life. It is particularly well-suited for beginners due to its shallow maximum depth and mild conditions. For both freedivers and scuba divers, the highlight is the rich freshwater biodiversity, providing a serene environment for observation and underwater photography, especially for macro life and shy fish species.
