This dive site, known as You and Me Giri, is an exceptional reef located on the north side of the You&Me resort in the Maldives. It's easily accessible by a short 8-minute boat ride. The unique giri formation features a vibrant top reef starting at a mere 1 meter, sloping down to a reef bottom at 25 meters, although the maximum recreational dive depth is 18 meters. It's renowned for its intricate macro life and is a popular spot for night diving.
Divers can expect to encounter a diverse array of marine creatures, including various species of nudibranchs, delicate flat worms, intriguing lionfishes, elusive moray eels, schools of snappers, and clever octopuses. The coral formations, typical of a Maldivian giri, provide ample habitat for these and many other reef inhabitants.
While specific seasonal highlights are not provided, the Maldives generally offers excellent diving conditions from November to May (dry season). This site is particularly recommended for macro photographers and those interested in night diving due to its abundant small creatures. Both scuba divers and freedivers will find the site appealing, with its shallow top reef being ideal for snorkelers and beginner freedivers, while the deeper sections offer more exploration for certified divers.
