This dive site, known as 'Mantas and More', is a highly regarded location situated to the east of Mulee Island in the Maldives. It features a gentle slope extending from 15 to 30 meters, adorned with vibrant coral formations. The highlight for divers is the presence of numerous cleaning stations between 10-15 meters, especially active during the manta ray season, providing excellent opportunities for observation. The site offers a relatively easy navigation due to its sloped topography, making it accessible for a range of diving experiences.
The site is a natural congregation point for a rich diversity of large marine life. During the peak season, it's common to encounter manta rays, often accompanied by their offspring, utilizing the cleaning stations. Beyond mantas, divers can expect to see an array of big fish including barracudas, napoleons, various shark species, other rays, and tuna, all thriving among the healthy coral formations.
The best time to visit 'Mantas and More' is from December to May, which is the prime season for manta ray sightings. This period offers the highest chance to witness the spectacular manta activity at the cleaning stations. Both scuba divers and freedivers will find the site rewarding, with the shallower cleaning stations being particularly suitable for freediving. Divers should be prepared for potential moderate currents, which are often associated with areas frequented by large pelagic species.
