This dive site, Huraa Etere, is an easy and welcoming spot in the Maldives, ideal for Open Water Diver training dives 3 and 4. Divers can navigate around a mini-wreck and scattered cargo lying on the seabed between 16-19 meters, providing interesting focal points. Further west, at around 20 meters, a small thila offers additional exploration opportunities.
The site is home to diverse marine life, including delicate sea needles, various gobies, and vibrant butterflyfish. Schools of young fusiliers are often seen, and lucky divers may encounter huge, though generally shy, turtles. Macro enthusiasts will delight in searching for warty snails and, with a little luck, colourful nudibranchs. The potential to spot large stingrays adds to the excitement.
Huraa Etere can be enjoyed throughout the year, as the Maldives typically offers consistent and favourable diving conditions. Its gentle nature and manageable depths make it an excellent choice for beginner divers and those seeking relaxed underwater exploration. Freedivers will find the average depth of 8 meters and the maximum of 17 meters well-suited for breath-hold dives, allowing ample time to observe the wreck, thila, and macro life.
