This dive site, Loma Thila, is a round, gentle-sloping thila located on the north side of the You&Me resort in the Maldives, approximately 15 minutes by boat. The top reef begins at a shallow 2 meters, gradually descending to a maximum depth of 24 meters with an average depth of around 12 meters. Its circular shape makes navigation straightforward, allowing divers to easily explore the entire reef structure.
Divers can expect to encounter a variety of marine life, including numerous moray eels, schools of fusiliers and snappers, and the impressive Napoleon wrasse. Octopus and bluefin trevally are also common sightings, with seasonal small baitfish often attracting larger predators. While not explicitly mentioned as a regular sighting, the Maldives generally hosts a rich biodiversity.
The best time to visit Loma Thila aligns with the dry season in the Maldives (typically November to April) when visibility is generally at its best. Its shallow top reef makes it excellent for snorkeling and freediving, while scuba divers of all levels can enjoy the gentle slopes and abundant reef life. Always check local current conditions before diving, as they can vary.
