This dive site, aptly named Half and Half, offers a simple and relaxing experience suitable for divers of all skill levels. The site is characterized by two distinct sections: a vibrant wall and an expansive sandy plateau adorned with numerous coral blocks. The wall descends from a depth of 5 meters down to approximately 23 meters, featuring a variety of caverns and overhangs that provide interesting topography for exploration.
The marine life at Half and Half is diverse, with glassfish and moray eels often found sheltering within the wall's many crevices and overhangs. Different types of sponges cling to the wall, adding to the visual appeal. The site is also frequented by schools of fusiliers, as well as encounters with larger pelagics like turtles and stingrays, especially over the sandy plateau.
The best time to visit the Maldives for diving is generally during the dry season from December to May when the weather is calm and visibility is excellent. This dive site is particularly suitable for both scuba divers and freedivers due to its manageable depths and varied features starting from shallow water, offering a pleasant experience for underwater photographers interested in both wide-angle and macro subjects.
