This dive site, Easy Express, is a thrilling drift dive located on the east side of Veyvah Island in the Maldives. Divers typically begin on a wide reef top adorned with vibrant coral formations and stunning anemones. The dive transitions to a dramatic steep drop-off ranging from 12 to 30 meters, featuring numerous overhangs that provide shelter for various marine life. As a drift dive, navigation involves flowing with the prevailing currents, making it an exhilarating experience.
The rich marine biodiversity here is impressive. Within the overhangs, divers can discover rock cod, majestic Napoleon wrasses, and various moray eels. In the open water, large shoals of hunting jacks and king mackerel patrol, while graceful eagle rays and several species of sharks are frequently observed passing by. The reef top itself is home to diverse coral species and striking anemones.
The Maldives offers excellent diving conditions year-round, though specific pelagic sightings can peak seasonally. This site is best enjoyed by divers comfortable with drift diving and managing strong currents to fully appreciate the dynamic ecosystem and pelagic action. Freedivers can also find excellent opportunities to explore the vibrant reef top and encounter larger marine life in the blue.
