Sipadan Island is formed by the uplift of submarine landmasses and volcanic activity. It's Malaysia's only deep-ocean island and a world-class dive site. It is a mushroom-shaped island with underwater parts resembling a chimney. Jacques Cousteau called it an untouched work of art. Popular dive spots include Turtle Cave, Barracuda Point, South Point, and Hanging Gardens. The seabed is almost entirely vertical cliffs, and the island has a maximum depth of 600 meters.
