This dive site, Director's Bay, holds a rich history, having been privately owned by the Directors of the Royal Dutch Shell Group and the Dutch Royal family until 1985. It is strategically located between two other well-known sites, Tugboat Reef and Small Wall. Today, it stands as a fantastic shore diving location, offering easy access for divers to explore its underwater treasures.
The bay is celebrated for its thriving marine ecosystem, particularly its impressive macro life, which includes sought-after creatures like seahorses and frogfish. Beyond the smaller inhabitants, divers can expect to encounter a wide variety of fish life, such as snapper, angelfish, grunts, parrotfish, and grouper, swimming amongst healthy corals and reef structures.
Director's Bay is suitable for diving year-round, offering consistent conditions for underwater exploration. Its shallow average depth of 10 meters and maximum depth of 21 meters make it ideal for beginners, snorkelers, and freedivers alike. Macro photographers will especially appreciate the opportunity to spot rare critters, while its historical background adds a unique charm to the dive experience.
