This dive site, Arrecife Norte, is situated at the northern extremity of Isla Fuerte's expansive reef platform. Divers typically begin their exploration in the shallower sections at 8 meters, which then transition into a captivating vertical wall descending to 15 meters. Beyond the wall, the topography shifts to a series of vibrant coral mounds, which, according to the general description, continue to a maximum depth of 24 meters, offering varied underwater navigation though the official maximum recreational depth is 18 meters.
The reef here is in an excellent state of conservation, teeming with a great variety of colorful reef fish. Occasional sightings include larger species such as Sabalos and Cod. Divers may also encounter nurse sharks and graceful stingrays patrolling the reef, adding to the site's rich biodiversity.
Arrecife Norte is suitable for diving throughout the year, with generally favorable conditions in the Caribbean. Its diverse depths and features make it an attractive location for both scuba divers and freedivers seeking healthy coral ecosystems and diverse marine life. For photographers, both wide-angle reef shots and macro opportunities with abundant reef fish are present.
