This dive site, also known as ''Ponta do Morro Branco'', is uniquely situated at the foot of mountains. To reach the main dive area, divers need to swim out to the Open Water, navigating between three distinct reefs. The underwater topography is rich and varied, featuring a mix of shoals, coral formations, dramatic gorges, and intriguing small caves, offering a dynamic and engaging exploration.
The marine life here is abundant and diverse. Divers can expect to encounter rich shoals of fish and vibrant coral ecosystems. The primary attraction, however, is the presence of nurse sharks. During their mating season, these impressive creatures, ranging from 1.5 to 4 meters in length, can be observed congregating in shallow waters, typically between 3 to 6 meters deep.
The best time to visit Ponta de Tubarão is during the nurse shark mating season to witness the spectacular gatherings. With a maximum depth of 16 meters and an average depth between 11-13 meters, this site is highly suitable for all levels of certified divers, including open water divers. Its shallow depths and the accessibility of nurse sharks also make it an excellent spot for freedivers and snorkelers.
