This dive site is the wreck of the tugboat Servemar X, intentionally sunk in 2002 along with two other tugs, Lupus and Minuano, off the coast of Recife, Brazil, as part of an artificial reef program. The wreck rests in an upright, navigation position and is remarkably well-maintained, offering a captivating underwater structure to explore between 20 and 25 meters deep. It is part of a conglomerate of artificial reefs.
As part of a thriving artificial reef system, Servemar X boasts a rich concentration of marine life. Divers can expect to encounter large schools of various fish species, along with exciting sightings of sharks, rays, and sea turtles, making it a vibrant ecosystem for marine observation.
The best time to visit Recife for diving is typically during the dry season, from September to March, when conditions are generally calmer and visibility often better. While an average depth of 12 meters exists, the primary dive zone is deeper at 20-25m, making it unsuitable for snorkelers. Freedivers with advanced experience might explore upper parts, but it's primarily a scuba destination where potential currents should be considered for dive planning.
