This dive site, Reifnitz Parkplatz 2, is located directly on the shores of Wörthersee in Austria, offering convenient shore entry. Divers can choose to explore either to the left or right, gradually descending into the lake's depths. The shallow area near the shore is characterized by numerous sunken trees and rocks, providing an engaging experience for beginners. As divers descend past the thermocline, typically found between 15-20 meters, the topography transforms into impressive rock formations and steep walls.
The Wörthersee is home to a variety of freshwater marine life, including sizable catfish, pike, and various species of perch. For those with a keen eye and a bit of luck, crabs can also be spotted making their way across the lakebed. The fallen trees and rock structures create excellent habitats for smaller aquatic creatures and typical freshwater plant life.
The site is well-suited for diving during the warmer months when conditions are generally favorable. Its diverse depths and features make it appealing for both recreational scuba divers and freedivers, with the maximum depth of 23 meters offering ample space for breath-hold exploration. Due to the distinct thermocline, divers are advised to wear appropriate thermal protection for comfort during deeper dives.
