This dive site is located approximately ten minutes offshore from the Gold Coast, offering an open water environment ideal for freediving line training and courses. With a bottom depth of about 40 meters, the site provides ample vertical space for depth progression without complex underwater navigation, as it primarily consists of open ocean. There is no specific history or story associated with artificial structures, as its value lies in its natural pelagic environment.
The offshore waters are home to migratory and pelagic species. The most prominent sightings are of humpback whales, particularly during the cooler months of Winter and Spring. Other pelagic fish and marine life typical of open ocean environments in the region may also be encountered.
The best time to visit this site is during Winter and Spring to maximize the chances of encountering humpback whales. For freedivers, the consistent depth and open water make it an excellent location for depth training and perfecting techniques. Divers visiting should be prepared for potential boat traffic and focus on wide-angle photography to capture the large marine life.
