This dive site, Tonsai Bay, serves primarily as a confined water training area, especially suitable for new divers. A buoy-lined zone offers protection from local boat traffic, making it a safe and ideal environment for initial underwater adventures. Its navigation is straightforward, typically over a shallow sandy bottom, perfect for skill practice.
The marine life here, while not focusing on large pelagics, includes a variety of small reef fish such as fusiliers, vibrant clownfish, shy shrimp gobies, territorial damselfish, and interesting pufferfish. The sandy substrate occasionally yields macro opportunities for observant divers.
The best time to visit Ton Sai Beach for diving is generally during Thailand's dry season, from November to April, when conditions are calmest and visibility is at its best. It's an excellent spot for beginner divers to gain confidence and practice skills. Freedivers can also enjoy the shallow depths and calm waters for initial breath-hold training.
