This dive site, Nakaley reef, is a shallow, approximately 200-meter long coral reef located just 10 meters off the beach in Phuket, Thailand. It stretches about 50 meters seaward in a north-south direction, gradually descending to a maximum depth of 12-14 meters before meeting a sandy bottom. Its accessibility makes it ideal for both beach entries and boat dives, offering a relaxed environment for exploration.
The reef is home to a diverse array of reef fish including damsels, fusiliers, snappers, and butterfly fishes. Divers can frequently spot octopuses and moray eels navigating the coral formations. On the adjacent sandy bottom, resting stingrays are a common sight, adding to the variety of marine life.
Nakaley reef is suitable for diving year-round, with the calmest conditions typically found during the dry season from November to April. Its shallow depths and gentle profile make it an excellent spot for beginner divers to gain experience and for macro photographers to capture intricate details of the reef life. Both snorkelers and freedivers will appreciate the easy access and vibrant shallow sections of the reef.
