This dive site, Bay 1 on Racha Yai Island's east side, is known for its calm, sheltered conditions and interesting topography. Divers can explore three distinct wrecks, distributed between 5 and 25 meters, providing good navigation opportunities. The site features a white sandy bottom, making it easy to navigate and offering a stark contrast to the artificial reefs of the wrecks. It is a very popular spot for day trips from Phuket.
Marine life at Bay 1 is vibrant, with a wide variety of tropical reef fish making their home in the calm waters. Notably, bat fish are frequently sighted, often found schooling around and inside the wrecks, offering great viewing opportunities for divers and snorkelers alike.
Best visited during Thailand's dry season, from November to April, when conditions are typically calm and visibility is excellent. This site is particularly suitable for beginner divers and those undergoing training due to its mild currents and manageable depths. Freedivers will also find it rewarding, with accessible wrecks and abundant reef life in the shallower areas.
