This dive site, Lang Khaai Bay, is located on the east side of Koh Tao, nestled just south of the more prominent Tanote Bay. Accessible both by boat from the island's west side, taking approximately an hour, or directly as a shore dive from its sandy beach, it offers an easily navigable and protected environment. Its shallow depths and calm conditions make it a favored spot for entry-level divers and those seeking relaxed exploration.
The bay boasts a vibrant ecosystem typical of Koh Tao's reefs, teeming with many species of common marine life. Divers can expect to encounter a diverse array of reef fish, hard and soft corals, and various invertebrates. Lucky divers might even be rewarded with a sighting of a Cobia gracefully swimming through the clear waters, adding an exciting element to the dive.
The best time to visit Lang Khaai Bay, like much of Koh Tao, is generally from March to October when the seas are calmest and visibility is at its peak. Its shallow average depth and gentle currents make it an excellent location for both snorkelers and freedivers to enjoy the abundant marine life from the surface or with breath-hold dives. Scuba divers will find it perfect for training, refresher dives, or simply a leisurely exploration of a thriving shallow reef.
