This dive site is Cala del Mal Pas, a small cove located next to the port of Benidorm, Spain. It's a sheltered location, making it ideal for entry-level divers and night dives. The shallow, relatively calm waters make navigation straightforward; simply explore the rocky seabed and swim along the coastline. There is no known specific history or story associated with the site itself, but its proximity to the port offers a unique urban diving experience.
The marine life here is quite diverse for such a shallow site. You can expect to encounter salemas, damselfish, octopuses, various breams, wrasses, and, remarkably, eagle rays. Night dives can be particularly rewarding, with the possibility of seeing dozens of giant butterfly rays. The rocky seabed supports a variety of smaller invertebrates and algae, ideal for macro photography.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months (May-October) when the water temperature is most pleasant and visibility is typically at its best. For both divers and freedivers, the calm waters make this site exceptionally accessible. Remember to check the weather forecast before your dive and be mindful of boat traffic near the port.
