About this dive site

This dive site, Anse Patate, is renowned for its picturesque setting, fringed by dramatic granite boulders and swaying coconut trees. The underwater landscape features a relatively well-preserved coral reef that begins approximately 30 meters from the shoreline. Navigation is straightforward given the shallow depths, focusing on exploring the reef and areas close to the shore.

The primary marine life attraction here is the presence of many hawksbill sea turtles, which are often sighted quite close to the beach, offering fantastic encounters. The coral reef itself hosts a variety of smaller reef fish and invertebrates, contributing to a vibrant ecosystem.

Anse Patate is best enjoyed when the sea is calm, as it can be more exposed to waves compared to other local spots. It's an excellent location for both snorkeling and freediving due to its shallow maximum depth of 6 meters and clear waters under good conditions, making it particularly appealing for beginners and photographers interested in wide-angle shots of turtles and reef landscapes.
