This dive site, Nionplas, is a former sand quarry located next to the A59 in Raamsdonkveer, Netherlands. Divers enter the water easily via stairs, where a helpful platform is also situated. The site offers straightforward navigation due to its relatively small size and shallow depths, making it ideal for relaxed exploration and training.
The Nionplas is home to a variety of typical freshwater fish and other aquatic life. The banks are beautifully vegetated, providing ample hiding spots and a rich environment for smaller creatures. Divers are encouraged to explore around the submerged tree and the remaining pipe structure, which often attract interesting biodiversity.
The best time to visit for diving is when conditions allow for good visibility, which can turn dives to 5 meters into a great spectacle. This site is highly suitable for both scuba divers and freedivers due to its shallow nature and easy access. It's an excellent spot for beginner divers to gain experience and for macro photography enthusiasts.
