This dive site, known as the “Kleine Surfplas,” is nestled within the recreation area “Nijstad” in the Netherlands. It operates under the careful monitoring of Dive2adventure, requiring pre-registration for all divers to ensure safety and management. Currently, there is an exciting initiative underway to construct an underwater park in this lake, promising an evolving and engaging dive experience. With an average depth of approximately 3 meters and a maximum depth of 7 meters, it’s a perfect spot for beginners and those looking for a relaxed freshwater exploration.
The lake is particularly famous for its rich underwater plant life, which creates a vibrant habitat for diverse aquatic species. Divers can expect to encounter large schools of white-fish gracefully moving through the vegetation. For those with a keen eye, the thrill of spotting larger predators like Zander, Eel, and Pike, often well-hidden amongst the dense plants, adds an exciting dimension to the dive.
The Kleine Surfplas is suitable for diving throughout the year. It's an excellent location for divers to practice buoyancy and navigation in a calm, controlled environment. Freedivers will also find the shallow, clear conditions and interesting landscape appealing. Remember to always pre-register with Dive2adventure before your visit to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dive.
