About this dive site

This dive site, Brouwerssluis, is situated at a lock structure and offers a unique diving experience in the Netherlands. It is optimally dived during high tide and after several days of calm, windless weather, as these conditions often provide the best visibility and manageable currents. Divers should be particularly aware of the sluice's current direction, which can be variable and at times strong, and the remnants of fishing lines that may be present.

The site is notable for its abundant marine life, particularly the many anemones that thrive here, making it an excellent spot for macro photography. With a bit of luck, divers may also encounter playful seals, a significant highlight of the area. Exploring the sandy bottom often reveals interesting smaller creatures and objects for keen observers, adding to the site's appeal.

To maximize the diving experience, visiting during high water and after a period of calm weather is highly recommended. Due to the potential for strong and variable currents near the sluice, it is advisable for divers to have some experience in similar conditions. Its shallow maximum depth of 8 meters makes it suitable for both scuba divers and freedivers, offering unique encounters with local marine life, especially the seals.
