This dive site features Manman Dlo, a monumental concrete mermaid sculpture created by Martinican artist Laurent Valère. Immersed at a maximum depth of 7 meters (20ft) in front of Saint-Pierre beach, it serves as a unique artificial reef. Over time, the sculpture has been naturally colonized by a vibrant array of corals and sponges, creating a serene and somewhat mysterious underwater atmosphere that divers and snorkelers can easily explore.
The Manman Dlo sculpture has become a thriving habitat, attracting many fish species, including various reef fish common to the Caribbean. Visitors can observe the intricate growth of corals and sponges on the mermaid, alongside smaller marine life that has made the sculpture their home.
Being a very shallow site, Manman Dlo is perfect for snorkelers, freedivers, and beginner scuba divers. The best time to visit is generally year-round, taking advantage of Martinique's warm waters and good visibility. It offers a unique cultural and natural highlight for anyone exploring the waters off Saint-Pierre.
