This dive site, despite its name, is famously dominated by Nurse Sharks, offering an unforgettable experience in a small, sheltered lagoon. Underwater navigation involves exploring several distinct coral blocks ranging in depth from 3 to 15 meters, providing varied topography within a shallow setting. The site is located close to the Embudu Channel, suggesting a vibrant ecosystem, but the lagoon itself promises calm conditions.
The main attraction here is undoubtedly the Nurse Sharks, which are present in significant numbers and are accustomed to interactions with divers and snorkelers. Beyond the sharks, the coral blocks support various reef fish species typical of Maldivian waters, along with healthy coral formations, though the primary draw remains the larger marine life.
Stingray City is a year-round destination, best visited for its guaranteed Nurse Shark encounters. It's perfectly suitable for all levels of divers, snorkelers, and freedivers/mermaiders due to its shallow depths and mild currents. The site offers fantastic opportunities for wide-angle photography focusing on the shark interactions.
