This dive site, Nassero Thila (also known as Neygey Thila), is a picturesque thila located just south of Kuda Hithi in the Maldives. It is characterized by three distinct humps that merge at depths between 15 and 18 meters, before jointly descending towards the sea bottom. Divers can navigate along the slopes and explore numerous overhangs and sheltered coral blocks, which create a diverse and intriguing underwater landscape.
Nassero Thila is home to an exciting array of marine life. White tip reef sharks are a common sight, often observed either actively hunting in the currents or resting on the sandy patches. The site's many overhangs and crevices beneath coral blocks provide ideal hiding spots for sleeping nurse sharks. While not explicitly detailed, the healthy coral structures typical of Maldivian thilas attract a variety of reef fish and smaller macro life.
The best time to experience Nassero Thila, like most of the Maldives, is during the dry season from December to May, offering excellent visibility and calm conditions. Divers should be prepared for potentially variable currents, which can bring in pelagic action and enhance the experience. Its varied depths and interesting topography also make it highly suitable for freedivers seeking to observe marine life within breath-hold limits.
