This dive site, locally known as “Mendhu Ingili” meaning “middle finger,” is a beautiful hidden treasure away from the more frequented Guraidhoo corner. It offers a pristine reef environment with high biodiversity due to the nutrient-rich ocean currents. The site's underwater topography primarily consists of a vibrant coral reef, providing an intricate habitat for a wide array of marine life.
The rich flow of nutritious ocean currents at Medhu Ingili supports a diverse ecosystem. Divers can expect to encounter impressive big animals such as eagle rays and whitetip reef sharks. The site also boasts an abundance of smaller fish life, including oriental sweet lips, and offers excellent opportunities for macro enthusiasts to spot unique creatures like leaf fish, ghost pipefish, and giant moray eels.
While specific seasonal highlights are not provided, the Maldives generally offers excellent diving year-round. However, the presence of moderate currents at this site suggests it is best dived when conditions are appropriate for the divers' skill level, especially for those interested in drift diving. Freedivers can also enjoy the abundant reef life in shallower areas.
