This dive site, Fihali Fara, is strategically located on the inside of the channel entrance of Kuda Kandu in the Maldives. Due to its position, it can be subject to strong currents, making it best to dive on a slack or incoming current for optimal conditions and safety. The top reef is characterized by interesting rock formations, and the prime diving depth ranges from 15 to 25 meters.
Divers can anticipate a vibrant display of marine life, including colorful gorgonians and impressive mushroom coral blocks. The site is also known for larger pelagic encounters, with nurse and whitetip sharks, stingrays resting in the sand, and schools of fusiliers. Keep an eye out for curious napoleon wrasse and delicate nudibranchs among the corals.
To ensure a rewarding experience, planning your dive around the current conditions is crucial. Diving during slack or an incoming current will provide the best visibility and allow for safer exploration of the colorful corals and abundant marine life. This site is particularly appealing to divers looking for exciting drift dives and encounters with larger marine predators typical of Maldivian channels.
