This dive site, Black Coral, is situated on a large circular reef featuring a prominent, long wall that begins at a shallow depth of 4 meters and slopes down to a sandy bottom at approximately 25 meters. Its extensive size provides divers with numerous areas to explore, including fascinating overhangs and a small swim-through embedded within the wall. Navigation typically involves following the reef wall, allowing divers to discover the diverse topography and hidden nooks.
The reef is teeming with a variety of marine life, including specific sightings of long nosed hawkfish and ghost pipefish, indicating rich macro opportunities. Furthermore, the site is home to a multitude of pufferfish, boxfish, triggerfish, and angelfish, all actively foraging amongst the corals and reef structures. The hard and soft coral formations that constitute the wall create a vibrant habitat for these diverse species.
Black Coral offers excellent diving throughout the year, with optimal conditions typically found during drier seasons when visibility is at its peak. Its relatively shallow top and moderate depth make it suitable for both scuba divers of all levels and freedivers seeking an engaging wall experience with abundant reef fish. Divers should bring a keen eye for smaller creatures hidden in the overhangs.
