This dive site is a small, well-sheltered coral reef located directly in front of the Tuna Bay Island Resort on Perhentian Besar. It is protected by buoys, making it a safe and easy spot for snorkeling and shallow diving. The reef itself is a mix of natural and artificial structures, offering a diverse, albeit somewhat damaged, underwater topography. Navigation is straightforward due to its contained size and clear proximity to the resort.
Despite some damage to the reef, it hosts a good variety of marine life. Divers and snorkelers can expect to see numerous fish species, including vibrant clownfish, large bumphead parrotfish, and striking blue-ringed angelfish, contributing to a lively underwater experience.
The best time to visit Tuna Bay, like the rest of the Perhentian Islands, is typically during the dry season from March to October when weather and sea conditions are most favorable. This site is particularly suitable for beginner divers and freedivers due to its shallow depth and calm conditions, providing an excellent opportunity to gain confidence and enjoy the marine environment.
