This dive site, Pulau Tenggol's House Reef, is situated on the western side of Tenggol Island, Malaysia. Known for its accessibility and suitability for beginner divers and macro enthusiasts, it offers a relatively calm underwater environment. Navigation is straightforward given its reef structure, typically following the reef line. While lacking extensive historical narratives, its primary appeal lies in its vibrant ecosystem and ease of exploration.
The reef boasts a diverse array of marine life including various species of reef fish, nudibranchs, crabs, shrimps, and other small invertebrates, making it a hotspot for macro photography. Hard and soft coral formations are abundant, creating a rich habitat. Occasional sightings of turtles or small reef sharks are possible, but it's primarily known for its smaller inhabitants.
The best time to visit Pulau Tenggol is generally from March to October, outside of the monsoon season, when conditions are calmest and visibility is optimal. This site is excellent for multiple dives, allowing divers to discover new creatures with each exploration. Freedivers will appreciate the shallow depths and rich marine life, while snorkelers can enjoy the vibrant corals and fish close to the surface. It's an ideal spot for dive training and refreshing skills.
