This dive site, Karang Tohor, is a prominent large pinnacle rock formation located a short five-minute boat ride east of Juara Bay, Tioman Island. Underwater navigation typically involves circling the pinnacle, exploring its impressive feature walls and large boulders. The shallower sections of the pinnacle, ranging from 9m to 15m, are adorned with vibrant soft and hard corals, creating a captivating underwater landscape.
The site boasts a diverse marine ecosystem, including various fish species such as Barracuda, Trevally, Schooling fish, Triggerfish, Scorpion Fish, Butterflyfish, and Porcupine Fish. Coral formations are abundant, featuring beautiful soft fans, whips, leather coral, and black coral. Larger species like Turtles and Sharks are also frequently sighted, adding to the excitement of the dive.
The best time to visit Karang Tohor generally aligns with Tioman Island's dry season, typically from March to October, when visibility is optimal and marine life is most active. Divers should be prepared for variable currents, which can sometimes be strong, offering thrilling drift dive opportunities around the pinnacle. Both scuba divers and freedivers will appreciate the varied depths and rich biodiversity.
