This dive site, known as Saint Nazaire or the Moneglia steamer, is a fascinating wreck dive located off the coast of Italy. It offers an intriguing underwater exploration, immediately revealing two spectacular "Bighi" (peaks or structures) that descend from 48 to 55 meters. Navigation involves exploring the various parts of the steamer, including its bridge, offering a unique historical journey beneath the waves.
The wreck serves as a vibrant habitat for diverse marine life. Divers can frequently encounter redfish, conger eels, and lobsters taking refuge within its structures. Occasionally, lucky divers may even spot St. Peter's fish (John Dory) gracefully patrolling the wreck's bridge.
The best time to visit this site is when visibility conditions are optimal, as this significantly enhances the wreck's beauty and the overall diving experience. Due to its depth and potential for challenging conditions, this site is primarily suited for advanced divers. Freedivers would find the depth demanding, and it is not generally suitable for snorkeling.
