This dive site, Olivetta, offers an accessible and enjoyable underwater experience for divers of all skill levels. The entry is from a six-meter bottom, gently sloping down to a maximum depth of 20 meters. The dive site is characterized by a varied topography including rocks, walls, and sandy patches interspersed with Posidonia seagrass meadows. Navigation is straightforward due to the gradual slope and clear visibility.
The rich biodiversity is a highlight of Olivetta. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of marine life including groupers (especially juveniles), scorpionfish, moray eels, and the colorful yellow parazoantus sponges adorning the walls. The Posidonia meadows provide habitat for numerous smaller fish and invertebrates.
The best time to visit Olivetta is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically best and the water temperature is more comfortable. For freediving, the shallow entry and gentle slope make it an ideal location. Divers should be aware of potential hazards like the scorpionfish, but generally the dive is quite safe. Maintain awareness of your surroundings and respect the marine environment.
