About this dive site

This dive site, Cala Grande, is located on the open sea side of Palmaria Island, the largest island within the Porto Venere archipelago in Italy. Reached by a short ten-minute boat trip, the site is known for its relatively shallow depths and interesting topography. Divers can easily navigate along the coastline, exploring unique rock formations and discovering two distinct caves situated in very shallow water.

The underwater environment at Cala Grande teems with a variety of marine life. Divers will encounter numerous shrimp, a diverse range of bentonic fish species dwelling on the seafloor, and captivating clouds of black damsels swarming in the water column. These species thrive within the rocky habitats and offer excellent opportunities for detailed observation.
