This dive site, Tauchsee Hänigsen, is an old gravel pit located in Germany. It is privately owned and accessible exclusively through the Jens Haak DivingSchool, ensuring controlled access for divers. The lake is relatively new to exploration by the diving community, offering a unique opportunity to witness its initial stages of underwater discovery. Navigation is straightforward due to its shallow maximum depth of 8 meters and average depth of 4 meters.
The lake features a low fish population and hardly any underwater plants, which contributes to its current landscape. Initial dives have revealed the presence of common freshwater species such as perch, pike, carp, and a population of catfish. Despite the limited flora, the fish life offers some subjects for observation.
As the lake is just beginning to be explored, specific seasonal highlights are yet to be fully documented. However, its shallow and calm conditions make it suitable for divers of all levels, especially beginners. For freedivers, the 8-meter maximum depth provides an excellent environment for practicing breath-hold techniques. Divers should be prepared for visibility ranging between 2 and 4 meters, and consider appropriate thermal protection for freshwater lake conditions in Germany.
