About this dive site

This dive site is Tahaa's Coral Garden, the most renowned snorkeling location on the island of Tahaa. It features a crystal-clear water channel between two motus, set within one of French Polynesia's largest and most idyllic lagoons. Visitors typically drift effortlessly through the shallow channel, observing the vibrant underwater world just beneath the surface. There is no specific history or navigational challenge; the drift is the main experience.

The site is teeming with diverse marine life. Swimmers can expect to encounter schools of colorful butterflyfish, elusive lionfish, bright wrasse, and charming clownfish nestled within their host anemones. Great giant clams are also a prominent feature, often seen basking in the sun near the surface, alongside an abundance of healthy, preserved corals forming a truly picturesque coral garden.

The Tahaa Coral Garden is ideal for year-round visits, with consistently warm, clear waters characteristic of French Polynesia. It is particularly perfect for snorkelers of all ages and abilities due to its minimal depth and gentle drift. While not suited for traditional deep scuba diving, freedivers can enjoy practicing shallow breath-holds and close observation of marine life, though its primary appeal remains surface-level exploration.
